I don't remember why I wrote this song. I was stuck in a hotel in Springfield, Massachusetts, for an entire month while working a theatrical production. I had no friends and very little to do.
When this song started to reveal itself it was WAY slower.

make magic
(song 4 kids in the y2k)
secret romance
inside missions, monks swear their silence and
bury their heads in your holy sand...
but what about the feeling
that we're feeling disconnected?
and you're acting discontented.
eyes wander...
we felt a closeness
can we make the most of it? make magic, pull the wool over my eyes...
you think we're the bottom,
but there's further still to go
and we're on our way up from below
sacred heart
pumping red life into a dying art;
only $11.09 at WalMart...
but what about the feeling
that we're feeling disenfranchised
from love through wealth and exercise...?
you felt a distance
can we make it make sense?
make magic, pull the wool over my eyes...
you think we're the bottom
but there's further still to go
and we're on your way up from below
second hand...
making new clothes for a dying man
moving gently, ambiently
but what about the feeling
that we're feeling apathetic
to social sickness aesthetics
we feel homeless
can we feel wholeness?
make magic, pull the wool over my eyes...
you think we've hit bottom
but there's further still to go,
and we're on our way up from below
