Seth Asa: Bio

Seth Asa is a singer-songriter from the backwoods of Southern Maine, currently residing in Boise, Idaho.

Seth began making music at an early age, plunking out notes on an old untuned piano. In the fourth grade, he took up flute; fifth grade, piccolo and keyboard; and in the eighth grade, began playing guitar and drums.

Upon high school graduation, while working as Assistant Music Director and/or Music Director for Children's Theatre of Maine, Seth received the Waynflete School award for excellence in Music. He briefly attended Berklee College of Music on a flute performance scholarship and later attended Sarah Lawrence College where he learned the ins and outs of technical theatre.

While at Sarah Lawrence College, Seth formed the band Famous with Chris Cullinan (3 Sides of the Cube) and Sarah Meadows (The Hollis Wake).

Since 1989, Seth has written and recorded over seventy recording projects as a primary songwriter and collaborator.

Seth has also studied the art of Theatrical Sound Design and has worked on numerous critically-acclaimed productions for Portland Stage Company, Idaho Theatre for Youth, Boise Contemporary Theater, and Idaho Shakespeare Festival, where he has also performed on drums, guitar, bass, and ceterone, in productions of 'MacBeth', 'As You Like It', and 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'.

Seth Asa currently performs in the band Semi*Famous with Chris Cullinan and Matt Trettin (Nada Brahma), and drums for Rich Conrad and the Po'Billy Beats. He also records with the improvisational rock group Pretty Youth and the dorkrap duo Visitor Zero.

Seth Asa is busily preparing his newest solo effort, "dream:33" which he hopes to have finished before he turns 34.
